The abyss (plot)

(shows a tapestry slowly burning depicting the fifth siege of Kydonia)

(Commentary starts)

Ever since the world fell into anarchy, the country’s of the world where thrown into chaos, but eventually to form county’s and small kingdoms, with all different government types and systems.

Year: E7 [3632]

Time was now split into eons 10000 years was a new eon.

There was a small kingdom in the north of Britannia called Kydonia [Founded in E1 (490)] up in the mountains of the north. The world seemed more enchanted it was mad and chaotic, wars everywhere over petty things.

Kydonia

Kydonia was a monarchy with an unmatched military of weak but abundant people, (10,000,000 – 20,000,000,000 people) armed with poles and anything they can get there hands on they would usually where black tracksuit pants, black leather gloves, black trainers, and a thick black coat with a hood, lots of layers for armour plus white masks that covered there face not really disciplined, where good in ambushing and made the enemy run in terror plus they would usually attack at night.

Kydonia was in ruins but it had a network of tunnels leading to an underground city built of crystal with walls of diamond reaching from the floor to the ceiling with a portcullis of quarts with an abyss, a bridge of wood stretching from a tunnel across a abyss to the city gates, and they had there own food supply from inside the walls of the city in witch they where completely independent.

10 years later.

The Argosh

A Powerful but a few military about 10,000 – 100,000 Wearing heavy armour witch was hard to move in. They eventually saw the ruins of Kydonia and they decided to send a small company of men to loot the place, upon finding nothing they came across tunnels and went to explore the network. Only to be ambushed by Kydonian infantry, the Argosh troops where on the bridge advancing towards the portcullis eventually they where there and where fighting the infantry at the gates meanwhile the defenders where pouring rust and aluminium in a cast iron vat, witch they placed over a hole, below the outside of the gates, to where the attackers where, they told the infantry to hide, and then lit the vat then thermite rained down over the attackers, which incinerated them, when the thermite was finished there was nothing left.

The Kydonians also use thermite in grenades which where called thermite bombs theses where little hollow balls of iron wood etcetera: with a hole in into which the thermite was poured in, the hole was sealed with anything that could burn such as paper, cotton, lint etcetera: then the flammable substance was lit, then thrown into the air, then the casing would burst open raining thermite on the target.

The Argosh got suspicious and sent in more troops, they went down the tunnel and stumbled across the Kydonian city, they marched across the bridge, having thermite rain from above illuminating the darkness of the underground, and if things couldn’t get any worse for the Argosh the Kydonians where firing massive cast iron pots of thermite from a giant trebuchets, they would light the pot of thermite and then hastily fire the pot from the trebuchet before the thermite burnt the cast iron pot, this resulted in the ignition of the wooden bridge, the Argosh ran across the bridge and where trapped. between them and there legions was the abyss.

Finally the Argosh where in retreat they regrouped the rest of there men and blocked the cave with a plate of steel, the trapped solders where taken prisoner by the Kydonians, interrogated and held for ransom of 146 pieces of diamond each.

The Argosh sent in the finest of there troops by this time the Kydonians bridge was rebuilt, and made of iron, they built it then lowered it like a drawbridge, then put chains at both ends of the bridge, then held the middle of the bridge up by chains, linking from the middle of the bridge to the top of the Kydonian battlements.

This didn’t stop the Argosh advancement, they moved there men across the bridge with no fire from the Kydonians, then when they where nearly across the Kydonians broke the chains from the battements and the chains on the bridge, the bridge slammed against the Cliffside with a echoing boom and a bone shaking vibration, the Kydonians fired cast iron pots thermite from there trebuchets, Argosh soldiers where clinging on for there very life, the cast iron was smashing and breaking the cliff into large slabs of rock and collapsing the tunnel, in-fact the shock of the impacts where breaking the roof of the cliff until eventually a beam of moonlight shone upon the city, the slabs of cliff fell into the eternal darkness and the bridge eventually fell.

After the battle of E7 [3642] ( the Argosh sent no more troops in, this was a great victory for the Kydonians but there where still troubles ahead and a long, dark path to take to victory.

11167 years later.

Year: E8 [4809]

Kydonia had rebuilt their bridge again, this time it was steel and it was bolted and riveted on both sides, then chained to the Cliffside and also the battlements of the city. Kydonia now had kingdoms all attacking the same thing, the Argosh capital, far in the north east of Britannia, it was a powerful undefeated city, which has seen the scars of war many times before. This was the first time that Kydonia has had to besiege a city before most of the time they where defending, the Kydonians brought steel trebuchets and lots of them and on top of that they also brought thermite and infantry to the siege. They waited until the other regiments arrived and attacked by this time there was a storm. And Kydonia fired vats of thermite instead of pots, then when the walls where down they rushed there infantry to the city while still firing there trebuchets.

The Argosh had battalion of cavalry lined up facing the Kydonians, the Kydonians and Argosh charged, then the other fractions saw the battle and came to assist the Kydonians, or so it seemed, it turned out that the other kingdoms betrayed the Kydonians and where close allies of the Argosh this was just a sinister plot to destroy the Kydonians, the Kydonians started to fire there trebuchets at the mass of troops, indiscriminately killing there own company’s and regiments, the Kydonians where losing the battle and they where quick to send reinforcements but alas as soon as the reinforcements arrived Kydonia’s forces had retreated back to there city and lost the battle.
