There are several ways to start a new page. For starting a story, specifically, see Help:Beginning a Story

Contents

Use the Input Box

You can use the input box below to create a page. Type in the name of the page you wish to create and click "create page".

Enter Page Name

Using the URL

You can use URLs for creating a new page. The URL to a page of the wiki is like this:

  • http://www.wikistory.com/wiki/NAMESPACE:PAGE    or
  • http://www.wikistory.com/wiki/STORY

If you are creating something in the Story Namespace (the Main Namespace), use the second format, replacing STORY with the name of the story you wish to create.

Otherwise, replace NAMESPACE with the type of page you are creating (poem, plot, etc.), and PAGE with name of the page you wish to create.

You will be taken to a blank page which indicates that no story, poem, plot, or character description of that name exists yet (although keep in mind that two different types of pages, such as a poem and a story, can each have their own page and url because of the namespace system). Clicking the "edit" page tab at the top of the page will take you to the edit page for that article, where you can create the new page by typing your text, and clicking "submit".

From the search page

If you search for a page that does not exist (using the search box and 'go' button on the left of the page) then you will be provided with a link to create the new page. (Note that this technique does not work if you use the 'search' button, you must use the 'go' button).

Using Wikilinks

WikiStory makes it very easy to link wiki pages using a standard syntax (see Links) that is similar to other "MediaWiki" wikis such as Wikipedia. If you (or anyone else) creates a link to a story, poem, plot, or character description that does not exist yet, the link will be coloured red, like this.

Clicking a red link, will take you to the edit page for the new story, poem, plot, or character description. Simply type your text, click save and the new page will be created.

Once the page has been created, the link will change from red to blue (purple for pages you've visited) indicating that the article now exists.

Create redirects to your new page

If you think another person may search for the page you've created by using a different name or spelling, please create the proper redirect(s). See Help:Redirects. But do not overuse redirects by taking up names that others may wish to use for their own stories. Please be considerate.
