A protected page is a page that cannot be edited by ordinary WikiStory members are prevented from editing at all. Only an Administrator can edit a protected page. Likewise only Administrators can protect a page in the first place, or unprotect the page to lift the restriction. Ordinary authors can, however, request that a page be protected/unprotected.

There are several reasons why a particular page might be protected. Typically a protected page is one which has been repeatedly targeted with vandalism, or where it is believed that vandalism would have an unusually severe impact.

A few pages, like WikiStory Home, are not open to editing by the general public.
